Source: Economic times

Government has received investment proposals worth Rs 18,000 crore in last six months in the field of electronic manufacturing, telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.
"We have received proposals till now worth Rs 18000 crore after coming in power. There is scope for improvement. Rs 4,000 crore investment we have approved, others are in pipeline," Prasad said while speaking on electronics manufacturing at Industry chamber FICCI's Annual General Meeting.
He said the new NDA government has approved 8-9 electronics clusters which will house full eco-system of making electronic products.
"The sum and substance of this electronic cluster is that if a state government gives 100 acre of land, the central govt gives Rs 50 crore (grant). If an investor invests Rs 100, government will give Rs 25. If a foreign investor comes and invests in India under the scheme and exports, he will also get benefit," Prasad said.
The Minister said he is open to tweaking policies in the sector to make it more investor friendly

Water Released to Adibatla SEZ

12th November 2014
Source: http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-andhrapradesh/water-released-to-adibatla-sez/article6588931.ece

In the first step taken to supply the Adibatla Special Economic Zone (SEZ) its required amount of water, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Monday released 250 kilo litres to 1,200 acre area.
With the kick-starting of the water supply to Adibatla, the water board is all set to increase pumping as the SEZ develops and companies begin operations.

“The required amount for the entire 1,200 acre area is nine million litres per day (MLD). As of now, we have set up a five MLD clear water reservoir there, along a nine kilometre 600 millimetre (mm) pipeline,” explained a senior HMWSSB official. The official said currently the 250 kilo litres supply per day is being given from Krishna phase - II project, and the remainder of the water supply in the future to the Adibatla SEZ will be supplied from Krishna phase – III project, once it is completed next year. He, however, did not reveal the cost at which water is being supplied to the companies which have begun operations there. Supplying nine MLD to the Adibatla SEZ in the future would not affect the city’s water supply at all, said the official. HMWSSB Managing Director M. Jagadeeshwar and other officials were present.
